Back in North America... and still drawing. ALOT!
After my stint in Germany, I got a great job offer from Day 1 Studios and hence I've moved yet again - this time to Chicago. I'm so glad I made this choice - my work and the art crew are just so much fun! And my wife has started painting again, so it's great to see her doing what she loves.

I've been drawing ALOT these past few months... especially at home. You'd think after a long hard day of drawing crazy crap at work I'd want to veg, kick back and enjoy a bit of R&R. Instead I'm usually drawing. I feel it MUCH more entertaining than wasting hours in front of the boob tube. Unless I'm gaming - at least then my mind is somewhat 'engaged', LOL. So, I guess for me drawing is more about exploring and discovery... finding new shapes and design relationships that have the potential to reveal a character or creature. Seeing something from within chaotic doodles or nebulous shapes is exciting to me because the forms slowly reveal themselves - almost like I'm not creating, I'm discovering! As I draw, the shapes suggest [or dictate to some degree] what lines should be drawn... what areas should be shaded. When I'm finished a drawing, I often feel a little suprised by the result. As an artist, I love that feeling because then I can look at the piece like most other people do - with curiosity, wonder, disgust; I can react emotionally to the piece because it's almost like the first time I truely SEE the drawing. The drawing process is merely a process of discovery (constantly evolving, ever in a state of flux) and I don't know exactly what I'm going to get until it's finished. I guess that's why I find drawing so addictive. I love exploring... delving into the unknown and never knowing what treasures of discovery lay ahead, waiting for me.

I'm on the move...
Hi all,

The winds of change have whispered into my ear, calling me to Germany. I'll be moving there in about 2 weeks to work at a game company. I'm totally jazzed about the opportunity (and a little freaked out) but I'm looking forward to experiencing the German culture, historic sites, food and landscape. I can't wait to settle in with the art department and begin drawing / painting crazy stuff.

My wife (who is an oil painter) is also excited about the move - though she's really bummed about having to give up our cat. That bums me out too - but only because she's down about it, NOT because I'll miss that hell-spawn.

I hope to continue to post some of my own work while in Germany, but may not post often as I'm sure alot of my time will be spoken for. I'll do my best, however!

Hope to see some of you crazy talented German folk from the CGTalk community while I'm there... have a beer or three.

Cheers!
